A memorable musical experience I had was the first time I performed at Carnegie Hall. It was with my high school choir during my senior year. So much time and energy was put into this performance and we all spent a lot of time rehearsing. So by the time we walked on stage and sang, we were all moved by the moment. Each song we sang has a special place with me and I still cry every time I hear the recording.

One specific piece that meant the most to me is titled “Ballade to the Moon” by Daniel Elder. This piece is one of the most beautiful choral songs I have ever heard. There is a stack towards the end of the piece, and when the final chord is sung, it gives everyone chills. The second piece that stuck with me is titled “Dubula” which is a traditional Xhosa folk song. This piece is one that we all still continued to sing, even after our New York trip. We would be on the bus, going to All State auditions and we all started sing this piece.
